Bullseye on a Piñata!

This morning we had a rare feat occur at archery rank.  James, a Charizard camper, hit a piñata from 20 yards away!  It was an amazing thing to witness!  Have a look at the pictures from a happy camper and a proud archery chief!

“Super” Ranks

Today we had a great time out at Ranks.  Campers at basketball rank played Rising Sun in a scrimmage, made fuse beads at creative arts, learned how to spike and set at volleyball, and watch some amazing skills from a super skipper CILT!  We had the best time getting these pictures together and are glad to share them!

Around Ranks

While NC State was running a soccer skill session we had Ranks going on.  It was a great morning for Ranks around camp!  Have a look from the morning!

Cary Day Camp Archery Challenge!

Below is an account of today’s Archery Challenge from our Archery Chief Brad!

Today three camps joined together for a battle of the archers.  Rising Sun rolled in with nine competitors, then High Hopes followed with fourteen.  A team of just 7 represented Camp O.  Each player found a partner for a double elimination 2-person team tournament for the crown.  Liam and Chris formed the first team for Camp O, James and Zack the second, and Jackson, Andrew, and Will the last.  The first and second team had unlikely draws and had to shoot against each other in the first round.  Chris and Liam took the win, which dropped James and Zack to the losers bracket.  Team 3 was paired up with a Rising Sun team for the first round and came away with a convincing win to stay in the winner’s bracket.  They moved into the second round, and by a narrow margin, lost to a High Hopes team.  With a second unfortunate seeding, James and Zack ended up playing against Jackson, Will and Andrew in team 3’s third game.  Team 2 took their second loss and was unfortunately knocked out of the tournament.  Team 3 went on to their next game and took a loss at the hands of the team that would ultimately finish in 3rd place overall.  With teams 2 and 3 eliminated, Liam and Chris were the final team representing Camp O.  They were up to the task, sweeping the field and knocking down team after team until it was down to the final three teams.  One High Hopes team and one Rising Sun team each with one loss and Team 1 from Camp O, still undefeated.  In the semifinal match High Hopes took down the last RSDC team with some impressive shooting and moved on to face Liam and Chris in the finals.  The archers lined up to shoot and High Hopes put some quick pressure on Camp O.  However, Liam and Chris stayed cool and stuck to what they knew.  They each put a few arrows toward the middle of the target and took the win 26 to 18, winning the tournament for Camp O!  Congratulations to all the camp and each camper involved in making this Cary Day Camp Archery Challenge a success!

Scrimmages, Masks, Archery, and More!

Ranks always give our campers a variety of activities to choose from.  We had a Camp O – Sports Camp basketball scrimmage, a soccer rank scrimmage, archery, and fitness.  At Creative Arts campers were making masks.  Lastly, we celebrated one of our camper’s 10th birthdays!  At  the Front Porch campers were treated to music from a record player.  Have a look at the morning at Ranks!

Monday’s Radical Ranks

Ranks are one of the most important parts of our days at camp.  Campers are able to learn skills and have that knowledge translate into passing off levels in their Ranks Book.  We also use Ranks as a time to prepare our campers for upcoming events during the week.  This week, campers going to soccer rank will be practicing and preparing to play Camp Rising Sun on Thursday, archery rank is always readying campers for an archery challenge against Rising Sun as well, and lastly wrestling rank is getting campers focused for a Camp O wrestling tournament on Friday.  We will update everyone as the week progresses.

The Best of Both Camps!

Today most of our pictures are coming from Sports Camp, the other half of camp that makes us great.  Our Sports Camp staff do a great job coaching and teaching our campers to be better at the sport they choose.  We value both sides of our camp and we truly believe that we have the best staff, running the best possible program for our campers!

Memorable Moments at Ranks!

We have challenged our counselors this summer to run creative, educational, and memorable Ranks.  Our campers will remember the games of giant jenga at the Front Porch, the archery challenges with Camp Rising Sun, the football game against Rising Sun, and the Inter-Camp scrimmages between Camp O and Sports Camp.  Today, we got to have two more memorable moment out at Ranks.  There was a wrestling match between Jimmy and Josh at wrestling rank, and a obstacle course at Archery Rank.  We were able to capture these moments and many more out at Ranks this morning, have a look!

The Day at Ranks!

Our campers had a blast this morning at Ranks.  Creative Arts Rank had our campers making American flags, Soccer Rank was practicing dribbling, Archery Rank was getting bulls eyes, and Corn Hole was being played at the Front Porch.  Have a look at what went on at Ranks this morning!

Memories made here, will stay with you forever

We had a truly special summer at this year at Camp Outer Limits and Friday was the culmination of all the hard work we did this summer.  There were lots of teary eyes when campers said goodbye to all of their counselors and friends.  I’ll admit that I had a couple moments when I wasn’t able to hold back the tears.  Have a look about the pictures from a great last day at the greatest summer day camp, Camp Outer Limits!

There are a couple more posts I’m getting ready to publish from our last day, stay tuned!
